Comparing the EasyGo to the competitor power chair.

When it comes to mobility products, there are multiple companies that claim to offer convenient mobility solutions. But just how convenient are their products? What separates their products from the others?

Do you have to take it apart to load or unload it into your vehicle? Is it lightweight? Is it comfortable? Can you drive it to the terminal gate AND take it on the plane? What about the battery? Can you take that on the plane? Does it have enough room between the seat, arm rests, foot rest and the ground? Can it fold small enough to fit in small spaces in a few short easy steps?

These are things to look for when shopping for mobility aids. It can be very frustrating to receive your new mobility aid and realize it’s not what it seemed to be!

EasyGo Mobility offers all of the above and more. But as you shop around, you may come across something similar that is not an EasyGo power chair. In this blog, we will compare the EasyGo Powerchair to the competitor, the EZ Lite Cruiser, so you can see for yourself how EasyGo stands against the competition.

Unboxing & Set Up

First off, how many power chairs come ready to use right out of the box? The majority of power chairs sold in America require some sort of assembly before you can use it. It makes sense for shipping. However, regardless of how simple or complex assembly can be, wouldn’t it be better to be able to use your power chair right out of the box without worrying about assembly?

If you buy an EZ Lite Cruiser, you will have to install the joystick, wire the CPU to the joystick, and then install the battery by wiring it to the CPU. In addition, the EZ Lite does not offer convenient wire placement. This means you can easily get snagged on the wire that runs from the joystick to the CPU located beneath and behind the seat. This could cause the wiring to be accidentally and forcibly removed from the joystick which can result in damages. That doesn’t sound good.

Luckily, the EasyGo power chair comes fully assembled and ready to use right out of the box! The EasyGo comes with the joystick and battery already installed. The joystick may be collapsed but can be set into place in one easy and quick step. Plus, EasyGo offers convenient wire placement. The wire that connects the joystick runs along the arm of the chair, along the frame down into the back of the battery slot. It’s held in place by plastic hooks and ties to ensure it won’t come loose and cause problems such as snagging or getting tangled. It also will not get in the way when folding and unfolding the EasyGo.

Folding & Unfolding

Speaking of folding and unfolding, let’s talk about just how easy and quick it is to unfold the EasyGo power chair right out of the box. Just stand the chair upright, push the frame in, pull the red lever located to the left of the battery slot and push on the seat until it clicks into place then unfold the backrest. This takes about 2 seconds to do. It’s very quick and easy when compared to the EZ Lite Cruiser that can be a hassle to pull open.

Folding the EasyGo is just as easy! Simply fold in the anti-tipping wheels, fold down the backrest, pull on the cord located behind the seat and pull the chair towards you until it clicks, allowing it to rest on the casters. Once folded, you can roll it behind you similar to how you would luggage.

Comfort Level

Being able to adjust to your comfort level is also important when you’re looking for the right power chair. You don’t just want to be able to adjust your chair, you want it to be easy as well. You don’t want to deal with tools when you’re just trying to get comfortable. EZ Lite Cruiser requires you to unscrew the armrest to adjust the height using an allen key.

The armrests on the EasyGO can be easily adjusted by pushing the button at the base of the armrest and pulling it up. No tools needed. The joystick is also adjustable. If you want to adjust the joystick on the EZ Lite Cruiser, you will need to unscrew the knob under the joystick. This knob is fully removable which means it can fall and roll away. Adjusting the joystick on the EasyGo is as easy as pulling on the spring bolt located under the joystick and pulling it forward. That is so much easier and faster than unscrewing a knob.

Appearance

When it comes to overall appearance, you can easily see the EasyGo has a much more sleek frame design making it look less bulky. Talk about getting around in style!

Battery Power

Of course, power chairs would not be what they are if it weren’t for their power, which comes from the lithium ion batteries provided with your power chair. When you compare the batteries between the EasyGo and the EZ Lite Cruiser, the evidence is clear.

It takes EZ Lite Cruiser 2 batteries to compete with one EasyGo battery and each of their batteries weighs 6 ½ pounds. That’s an extra 13 pounds to carry around in addition to their 44 pound power chair. EZ Lite Cruiser advertises that you can travel up to 20 miles on a single battery charge, but that’s when you use both batteries at once. However, you can’t do unless you have their Dual Battery Connector. In addition, their battery takes about 30 seconds and multiple steps to install. You also have to make sure you get the right battery as EZ Lite offers 2 models of battery and only one model is actually airline approved. Imagine the frustration of planning a trip where you need your power chair and then being told your battery is not airline approved. None of that sounds very convenient at all!

With EasyGo, you’ll get one battery and that’s all you’ll need. If you would like a second battery, it can be purchased separately. With one fully charged battery, you are able to drive 15 miles continuously. Our battery is also lighter than EZ Lite’s battery, weighing only 5 ½ pounds. Installation is as quick as easy as can be. The battery slides into the slot located right beneath the seat of the chair. Just slide it in until it clicks, turn on your chair and go! That’s it! No dealing with annoying wiring or connectors or battery sleeves. The battery does not need to be removed from the chair to be charged; it can be charged using the charging port located under the joystick. The battery takes approximately 5 – 7 hours to fully charge. In addition, the EasyGo battery is airline approved.

Power Chair Dimensions

The EasyGo power chair also sits higher than the EZ Lite Cruiser and has more clearance space between the footrest and seat, armrest and ground, footrest and ground and the seat and ground. You’d be surprised how much difference a few inches can make when it comes to comfort and convenience in a power chair.

Final Words

These things matter very much when it comes to choosing the right mobility aid. Educating yourself on the gritty details of a power chair will make all the difference when shopping through a sea of power chairs. A lot of power chairs sold in America are very similar, and those little details can separate one chair from all the rest.
